A trailer for the new HBO documentary The Slightest Touch is now available to the public.
The film premieres on Thursday, November 26, and will also stream on HBO Max. Rachel Fleit directed and produced the project. It is described as an intimate look at friendship.
The documentary centers on Emma Fogarty, 41, and her diagnosis with Epidermolysis Bullosa. EB is a rare skin condition that causes blisters and tears from light contact. Many doctors did not expect Fogarty to reach her current age. The condition requires daily or bi-daily bandaging that can last for hours. Patients often compare the sensation to third-degree burns.
Colin Farrell and Fogarty are close friends who competed together in the Dublin Marathon in 2024. Farrell pushed Fogarty in a wheelchair for the final four kilometers. Each kilometer represented a decade she has lived with EB. The pair raised close to €800,000 during the event.
Farrell has previously voiced frustration about the lack of available care for the disease in their country. "I love Emma, I love her to bits. I couldn’t be any more proud of her," he said. "But I don’t think I could be any more frustrated knowing that Emma and all those in our country who suffer with EB aren’t getting the care they could".
EB is also known as Butterfly Skin. The extensive care requirements place a heavy strain on families managing the condition.
