Election officials in Israel expect to finish counting votes by tomorrow afternoon. Neither Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nor his challenger, Gadi Eisenkot, a former military chief of staff, has secured the majority needed to govern. Voters turned out in record numbers. Netanyahu pulled ahead in the morning count after Israelis went to bed the previous night believing Eisenkot held the lead. The leading candidate will have six weeks to assemble a governing coalition. Eisenkot could win support from Arab-led parties in parliament, but his camp is reluctant to work with them after the Oct. 7, 2023 attacks. If no bloc wins a majority, coalition talks could run for days or weeks.

She said Trump's need to campaign in deeply red states points to a problem for his party. Midterm turnout is typically low, and she said the MAGA vote remains available to him.

The administration revoked that status for Haitians during Trump's second term. Some Springfield voters said they are voting early because they are angry about the administration's treatment of Haitians. In Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed won the Democratic Senate nomination by a narrow margin. Trump and former President Barack Obama both campaigned for their party's Senate candidate there over the weekend. Tariffs weigh on Michigan households more than those in any other state because many residents depend on cross-border trade. A federal judge has temporarily blocked the Trump administration's plans for further changes to East Potomac Park, the D.C. golf course the president wants to convert into a championship-level venue.
