WBRC in Birmingham declared First Alert Weather Days for the first frost of the season. The alert covers Sunday and Monday mornings when temperatures are expected to fall below freezing in specific regions.

Forecasters predict lows in the upper 30s in far northern areas during this period. Most of the state will see temperatures in the 40s by Saturday morning. Sunday mornings may bring lows in the low to mid-30s, with near-freezing conditions in outlying areas farther north. Additional frost is expected early Monday morning.

Meteorologists advise residents to protect sensitive plants during these cold snaps. They also recommend checking on pets as some of the coldest mornings of the season settle in. The rest of the November weekend is expected to be mostly sunny.

High temperatures on Saturday and Sunday will reach the 60s. A north wind between 5 and 15 mph on Saturday may make the air feel cooler. Fall foliage colors across the state are approaching peak levels over the next two weeks.

The weather pattern remains mostly dry through Veterans Day. A southern-stream system could produce a few showers late Tuesday and Tuesday night. Partly cloudy skies and highs near 70 degrees are expected for the remainder of the week.

Another cold front may arrive by next Friday, bringing a significant drop in temperatures. The forecast shows a 20% chance of showers across far northern Alabama and potential snow showers in the higher elevations of the Smoky Mountains. The weekend of Nov. 14 is expected to be dry with highs in the 60s and more frost.
