Andy Farrell is set to announce a team for Ireland that may include Andrew Porter, Ryan Baird, and Mack Hansen for the upcoming match against Argentina. The three players are expected to return to the starting fifteen for the contest scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. on Friday at the Aviva Stadium.

All three athletes missed the Six Nations Championship and the three-match southern series of the Nations Championship this year. Their last Test appearances occurred during the final match of last year’s Autumn Nations series. Ireland lost that game to South Africa by a score of 24-13. The match featured one 20-minute red card for Ireland and four yellow cards.

Porter dealt with recurring calf problems during his absence. Baird suffered two leg fractures. Hansen managed repeated foot issues that required surgery. Each player has returned to full fitness and form during the current club season. Farrell is expected to name them in the starting lineup based on their recent performance.

Paul O’Connell, the Ireland forwards coach, praised Baird’s recent contributions. O’Connell noted that Baird’s kick chase has been excellent in recent weeks. He also highlighted Baird’s physicality on both sides of the ball. O’Connell stated that Baird brings leadership to set pieces and is effective at executing game plans.

Hansen’s return would place him on the left wing. His role includes acting as an alternate playmaker due to his ability to operate close to the line. Robert Baloucoune is viewed as the most likely candidate to complete the back three alongside Hugo Keenan and Hansen. Baloucoune offers acceleration and finishing skills that differ from the more orthodox wing play of other candidates.

Garry Ringrose has been ruled out of the match, forcing a change in the backline. Robbie Henshaw and Jamie Osborne are the primary alternatives for the 13 jersey. Henshaw has had a strong season, leading Leinster to victories over Clermont and Munster at inside centre. His form suggests he may take the position over Osborne.

Sam Prendergast is attempting to recover from a wrist injury in time for training. If he is unavailable, Ciaran Frawley will start at outhalf. Frawley has performed well since moving to Connacht. He has started only one of his 15 previous Test matches, which was against Japan last July. Joe McCarthy is certain to start in the second row, while Josh van der Flier and Sean Jansen will start in the absence of Caelan Doris and Jack Conan.

The selection for the number five and six jerseys remains open. James Ryan and Tadhg Beirne started in those positions against the All Blacks. If Baird returns to the back row, Beirne may move to the second row. Nick Timoney has become a regular in the match-day squad, which may limit opportunities for Cian Prendergast despite his strong season as Connacht captain.
