Columbus, Oct. 27, 2026: Gunshots were reported outside Lincoln Tower this morning around 10 a.m. Ohio State public safety officials sent an email notice to the university community shortly after the incident occurred.

The Ohio State University Police Division is investigating the event as an aggravated assault. Two vehicles pulled into the loading dock service drive on Cannon Drive. The drivers appeared to be making deliveries when they began arguing. The public safety notice described a verbal confrontation between the two parties. One vehicle then drove around the other and struck it as they passed.

Witnesses in the area heard loud arguing followed by gunshots. Both vehicles fled the scene after the exchange. University spokesperson Dan Hedman stated that there were no reports of injuries to bystanders. Hedman said all available information regarding the incident is contained in the notice sent to the university community.

Hedman indicated he does not have a status update on the people involved because they left the area. The police division considers the case an ongoing investigation. The notice encourages students with information to contact the police division directly.

The incident took place on the service drive adjacent to the student residence. No other details were released in the initial public safety alert. The university continues to gather information from witnesses in the vicinity.
