Alex Miller, a Certified Prosthetist Orthotist, is bringing prosthetic care directly to the homes of residents in Columbus and surrounding Central Ohio communities. Through Miller Prosthetics & Orthotics, his practice now offers a mobile service that removes the need for patients to travel to traditional clinics for routine care.

The mobile service provides comprehensive care, including initial evaluations, limb fittings, necessary adjustments, and follow-up appointments. These services are designed to offer individualized attention without the logistical burden of transportation. Patients no longer need to navigate the distance to a specialty clinic to maintain their prosthetic devices.

This approach addresses specific challenges for individuals with limb loss who face limited mobility or lack reliable transportation. It is particularly useful for residents in rural areas of Central Ohio where access to specialized providers is sparse. By meeting patients at home, the practice aims to help individuals address fit and comfort issues more frequently, supporting their progress toward greater mobility and independence.

Miller notes that home visits provide a clearer view of the environment patients use daily. This perspective helps him understand their specific goals and practical mobility needs better than a standard clinic visit would. The setting allows for a more tailored approach to each patient's routine.

The mobile service complements the work of the organization with the local amputee community. Miller is involved in non-profits advocating for the amputee community and volunteers with adaptive sports and fitness classes. He recently provided a prosthesis to Manley, a soccer player for the Columbus Amputee Soccer team, in a partnership with the Steps of Faith Foundation.

“My goal is to do anything I can to help the limb loss and limb difference community,” Miller said. “I am involved in non-profits advocating for the amputee community and volunteer with multiple adaptive sports and fitness classes. This mobile service is just another way I can shoulder a little more of the effort it takes to get someone going through a hard time, back to something they can call normal.”

The service is available to individuals in the Columbus region who require prosthetic care. Interested patients can learn more about the mobile services at millerpo.com.
