Gardaí have arrested a man in connection with the death of a woman found at a Melville Terrace property in Finglas, Dublin 11. Officers responded to the address on Monday morning, and the woman was subsequently named locally as Loredana Morosanu. She is understood to be a Romanian national from Botoșani.
The property remained preserved for forensic examination while Ms Morosanu's body was transferred to the City Morgue in Whitehall for a post-mortem examination. Journal.ie reporter Eimear McAuley told Newstalk Breakfast that authorities initially withheld information from the press while tracking a suspect. "A media blackout was in place over the next number of hours, while Gardaí tracked down a man that they suspected was connected to the incident," McAuley said. She reported that the man was taken into custody in the wider Finglas area at approximately 11am.
Ms Morosanu had resided in Dublin for roughly a decade and had moved into the Melville Terrace address a few weeks prior to her death. McAuley said her social media activity documented a January engagement. She also reported that Ms Morosanu had lived elsewhere in Finglas previously and that there were indications she had been targeted in the period before her death.
Investigators are seeking accounts from anyone present in the Melville Terrace area between midnight on Sunday and 5am on Monday. Gardaí are specifically requesting any dashcam footage recorded during that window.
