German Village Gets a New Neighborhood Grocery on High Street
The Farmer’s Larder opens November 21 with a focus on local produce and meat, filling a gap in the historic district since previous spots closed.

Jamie Pritchard is opening The Farmer’s Larder at 900 S. High St., a grocery store dedicated to selling 90% local goods. The shop launches on Nov. 21, providing a dedicated retail space for neighborhood produce and meat in an area that has struggled to keep similar businesses open.
The location sits just around the corner from Third St., where Max & Erma’s once operated. Residents left sticky notes on the outside of that former restaurant years ago, with many asking for a grocery store or local market. The space later became Wunderbar and then Chapman’s Eat Market, but both have since closed.
Pritchard, who founded WIT Farm, identified the need for a place to buy basic staples like bread, eggs, and milk. Her farm supplies pasture-raised, antibiotic-free beef, pork, and poultry, often found at the German Village Farmers Market. She noted that while the Kroger in the Brewery District is nearby, it rarely stocks locally sourced items.
The store will feature products from Pritchard’s farm along with partners such as Truest Farms, The Farmstead Market, the Baker’s Rack, and Anna Bakes Things. The remaining 10% of the inventory consists of gourmet items that are not typically available in Ohio. The website describes the offerings as including fresh vegetables, milk, and locally milled grains.
The Farmer’s Larder will be open every day starting on grand opening day. Hours will run from 10 A.M. to 7 P.M.
