A 2019 auction in London set a new record for the most expensive garment ever sold. An olive green acrylic and mohair cardigan worn by Kurt Cobain during Nirvana's 1993 MTV Unplugged performance fetched £260,388. The item had never been washed since Cobain last wore it.

This week marks anniversaries of several notable events in music history. In 1958, Bill Haley and his Comets played the first rock 'n' roll concert in Germany. More than 7,000 fans attended the show, which turned into a riot.

In 1965, Queen Elizabeth II invested The Beatles with their MBEs at Buckingham Palace in London. John Lennon later claimed the group smoked marijuana in a palace bathroom to calm their nerves before the ceremony.

January 1970 saw a wake held in California for Janis Joplin. The singer had died of an accidental drug overdose. Her will included a provision for a wake party, for which she left $2,500.

In 2004, Apple launched the U2 Special Edition iPod. The device held up to 5,000 songs and featured a red Click Wheel with custom engravings of U2 band member signatures. The launch coincided with the release of the U2 album 'How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb.'

In 2011, a coroner's inquest into the death of Amy Winehouse returned a verdict of misadventure. That same year, Aerosmith delayed a concert in Asuncion, Paraguay, after Steven Tyler fell in his hotel bathroom. Tyler suffered facial cuts and lost two teeth, requiring stitches and emergency dental work. The band postponed the show by 24 hours.
